The Amazon Topology team determines how many, what kind, and where to place new buildings for Amazon's supply chain. These facilities range from million-square-foot Fulfillment Centers with thousands of robots down to inner-city Prime Now facilities serving orders to be fulfilled within an hour. Each year we spend billions on these facilities and expect high-impact results from the network built upon them. If you are interested in diving into a multi-discipline, high impact space this team is for you.
We use demand forecasting, optimization for various core decisions, machine learning to approximate the network, and simulation of how our choices will perform. The team is a mixture of Software Engineers, Operations Research scientists, Applied Scientists, Business Intelligence Engineers and Product Managers.
We are looking for a Business Intelligence Engineer to help manage our ever growing information needs and support analysis of increasingly complex business questions. You will seek out hidden and valuable correlations between the easily-measurable and the hard-to-quantify, within immense volumes of real-world data. You will also formulate quantitative metrics which allow us to track our progress, and then devise creative measurement and audit solutions which allow us to track those metrics with minimal cost and human effort. You will provide input into business and technical direction, steering broader solutions in support of these objectives. This role is expected to push the boundaries of measurability without sacrificing rigor.
