JOB SUMMARY: This position serves the Dallas Stars Business Intelligence department by providing relevant analytics for business initiatives undertaken within the scope of sales/marketing/sponsorship primarily. The goal for this position is to elevate Dallas Stars ability to monitor, report and act on available information to ensure the organization is keeping pace in the area of business intelligence.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Report/Dashboard Development & Quality Assurance
* Work with Business Intelligence Director to assist in requirement gathering for other departmental needs
* QA existing reports & existing integrations
* Develop reports & Ad Hoc Analysis using existing/new infrastructure
* Dynamic Pricing (in-season only)
* Utilize PriceMaster software to provide pricing recommendations to Ticket Sales management


* Track on-going success & incremental revenue produced by pricing strategy
* Participate in pricing strategy discussions throughout the season
* Continue to advance Stars analytical capabilities to identify new revenue-generating and/or fan-creating opportunities


* Conduct independent research on specific business topics that arise over the course of the fiscal cycle
* Evaluate current technological infrastructure and identify areas where technology could be enhanced, added or replaced to create efficiencies
* Report and communicate direct revenue generating results from activities conducted within the role
* Participate in communication with software vendor(s) / third parties
* Participate in weekly update calls with vendors


* Participate in evaluations of potential new vendors
* Participate in league (NHL) initiatives and serve as point-of-contact when necessary
* Maintain professional working relationship with Dallas Stars staff

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

* Bachelors degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Systems, or related
* 0-2 years of Analyst experience (or related internships)
* Expertise and/or working knowledge of:
* SQL


* Data warehousing & data lake concepts
* Data visualization software (Tableau, PowerBI, etc)
* Data structures - JSON, Database tables, Unstructured data
* Prior Sports experience is preferred
* Knowledge of Statistical Modeling Concepts preferred - Regression Analysis and Segmentation
* Knowledge of Scripting Languages R or Python
* Knowledge of other web and social tools preferred:
* Adobe
* Google Analytics
* Crowdtangle
* Facebook Insights
* Twitter Analytics
* KPIs: Impressions, engagement, video streams, etc.

Physical Demands and Working Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, handle objects and office tools, reach, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is exposed to an office environment, with noise levels usually moderate.
