Position Overview

The Information Technology division is responsible for global technology strategy and applications, corporate systems, infrastructure and operations for the company's worldwide media portfolio. The IT portfolio includes technology for Broadcast and Cable TV, Universal Pictures, News, Parks and Resorts, Sports and Olympics, Digital, Media Labs, and Sales, Research and Analytics, and NBCUniversal's International group. The division is comprised of a team of technologists who are responsible for partnering with the lines of business to drive their individual technology strategies, as well as maintaining a solid core technical foundation, enabling the company to manage financial & HR systems, email, network, data and technical service centers, etc.

The Enterprise Technologies Business Engagement Manager will serve as the liaison and trusted advisor between NBCU Business Technology Groups (BTGs) both inside and outside of the IT organization and Enterprise Technology (ET) which provides IT Infrastructure (network, compute, storage, telecom, workplace, and operations) services. This role is the primary point of contact for BTG leadership, International Real State leadership and International Business units and will represent ET strategies, services, and capabilities to each BTG along with executing on key projects.

This position requires strong communication, influencing, and project management skills. Also important is the ability to establish and maintain key relationships both within ET and with assigned BTGs as well as interact with diverse stakeholders and partners with a "business relationship management" mindset. While a strong technical foundation is essential for this role, the Enterprise Technology Business Engagement Manager will also be expected quickly to develop deep business acumen and understand the strategic objectives, major events, and pressures for each BTG and business unit.

The Business Engagement Manager will partner with a dedicated engagement team comprised of other Business Engagement Leaders, Program/Project Managers, and/or Business/Systems Analysts, who will work closely with BTGs and/or Business Units to provide consultation, expertise, and services from the broader ET organization.

ET Business Engagement Manager's key responsibilities:

* Execute the ET engagement model, vision, relationship, and roadmap for NBCU's International Business Units
* Manage a small group of Project Managers
* Develop a working knowledge of assigned BTGs business, strategy, and key priorities
* Partner closely with each BTG by actively participating in regular staff/team meetings
* Manage delivery of small to medium size projects; including scope, schedule, stakeholder communication, risks, issues, and budget
* Provide guidance and navigate the ET services catalog and processes on behalf of the assigned BTGs
* Manage the prioritization, resource allocations, and budgeting for projects approved by BTG and ET Leadership
* Strictly adhere to the NBCU Project Management Methodology and reporting requirements; including project plans, agendas, meeting minutes, risks/issues logs, status reporting, and any other required project deliverables
* Partner with engagement team to ensure delivery against business expectations
* Enable BTGs to better understand the scope of ET offerings and the related business value and efficiencies
* Communicate BTG infrastructure needs and demand to each of the ET pillars: Network, Client Services, Operations, and Hosting Services
* Manage delivery of programs across all key stakeholders within BTGs, ET, and third-party vendors. Closely manage communications and expectations across all groups
* Act as an escalation point for all BE related matters, including non-business hours outage calls, and operational activities
* Maintain extensive collaboration and communication between ET and BTGs to ensure the on-going alignment of BTG priorities, expectations, resource availability and service delivery
* Enables BTGs to better understand the scope of ET offerings and the related business value and efficiencies they provide
* Partner with BTG leaders to identify technology needs and develop technical strategies, internal IT assessments, competitor benchmarking, and industry technology offerings.
* Participate in regular service reviews, both internally and externally, and initiate improvements within an overall Service Improvement Plan
* Act as a change agent by anticipating technology opportunities, proposing viable solutions, and enabling process/technical innovation.
* Actively solicit feedback, reviews overall engagement performance and looks to drive continue improvement
* Participate in budgeting and proposal efforts by completing project scoping, cost-benefit analysis, and level of effort assessments
* Collaborate effectively across IT and BTGs to share/leverage learnings, minimize duplication of effort, and implement streamlined solutions
* Provide hands-on direction and leadership in operational activities related to Incident Management, Change Management, and Problem Resolution that impact the BTG's application portfolio or workflows
* Facilitate change management process to ensure awareness of operational events and prevent disruption to BTG activities
* Ensure compliance of all IT governance and SOX related documentation by required due dates

Qualifications/Requirements

Required Qualifications:

B.S. degree in Computer Science/Electronics/Engineering or related field (or equivalent work experience)

5+ years' work experience in related field

Minimum 3 years of experience leading complex project builds with proven record of successful completion

Solid documentation skills and proficiency with MS PowerPoint, MS Visio, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project or related applications

Excellent organization and communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to clearly and concisely articulate complex concepts for a variety of audiences

Ability to lead within matrix team environment

Ability to effectively prioritize critical path activities to ensure on-time delivery

Ability to effectively present ideas and communicate with senior leadership

Results- and goal-oriented, with initiative to work until job is complete

Appropriate sense of urgency and commitment for critical deliverables

Deep understanding of application and infrastructure technologies (compute, storage, network, database, web, integration, virtualization, cloud hosting, etc.)
