HR Benefits, Analytics and Information Systems (HRBAIS) has three outstanding full time opportunities for Business Analysts.

This recruitment will fill three openings. Two are for a duration of approximately 12 months and one is for a duration of approximately 9 months.

The purpose of this position is to provide technical support to UW HRBAIS systems and processes in preparation for upcoming UW Enterprise projects. This role will partner with current business analysts and developers to analyze, interpret and document business and technical requirements for various HRBAIS systems, provide support for information and data requests, and produce technical outputs described below. This role reports to the HRBAIS Analytics Manager.

Understanding UW's Operating Environment:

This position must develop a working understanding of Human Resources' business activities and related information systems needs/projects. HRBAIS information management services cross systems that include payroll, recruiting, layoff, time and leave, reporting (labor, internal, public, state and federal). Each of these systems includes a variety of differing rules, data governance policies and procedures.

Dimensions and Impact:

This position has a direct impact on HRBAIS information services delivery capability. Errors in the extraction, analysis and production of data can have significant impacts on university decisions, the accuracy and completeness of public records requests and other electronic records management functions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Information Management & Support

Information Management efforts such as report development, information and records requests and learning HR's data are a key portion of HRBAIS work and this role. This position requires strong SQL skills that will be used to pull, aggregate, and document large data sets. This position will also be developing Microsoft Reporting Services Reports, and using tools such as Office Writer and Enesys reporting tool to present data in an application layer to HRBAIS customers.

Business and Support Analysis

This role will also serve as a member of the HRBAIS support team, some effort will be focused on making HRBAIS work better for our customers on an ongoing basis. Assisting with analysis and documentation of as is state, future state, gap analysis, requirements, user documentation and test plans for HR projects, This could include pulling data and synthesizing information for the business analyst, assisting in describing and documenting information used in current HRBAIS systems, working with support analyst to troubleshoot and assist customers using HRBAIS systems and working with the internal HRBAIS support team to provide better tools and services for our customers.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or Business or related field and four to five years of experience. Experience can replace education.

Specific Skills:

Minimum of 2 years using SQL (or programming languages) to extract and present data out of complex multi-layer environments.

Minimum of 2 years working with business clients to develop requirements and system documentation.

Minimum of 2 years developing enterprise level reports in a production environment.

Minimum of 2 years' experience analyzing and explaining complex data sets.

Minimum of 3 years' experience working within the IT industry.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

DESIRED:

Ideal applicant will have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ideal applicant will work well as part of a team, but is also able to work independently when needed.

Ideal applicant will have experience with the Microsoft BI suite including reporting services, SSIS, and SSAS.
