Business Analyst II

Team: Enterprise Applications

STATUS: Full-time/Regular/Exempt

JOB OBJECTIVE:

The Enterprise Business Solutions (EBS) team is responsible for the success of their customer business units (Accounting, Finance, PBS Distribution, and others) in putting software systems to use in support of their business goals. To that end, the EBS organization designs, develops, implements, integrates, maintains and supports financial and other software systems - both commercial and custom built - supporting the PBS mission.

Business Analyst II is adept at matching business requirements to enterprise business applications functionality and addressing gaps through process and/or software changes. Through continuous communication with key stakeholders of the organization, the incumbent documents and analyzes processes and works with business sponsors to devise technical solutions. The incumbent understands business processes and leverages technology to optimize them.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Establish a strong, positive relationship with staff in the appropriate business units.
* Develop an understanding of how the business works from a process standpoint and how it uses the financial and related business systems. Act as a subject-matter expert (SME) in the identification, development and implementation of best practices across the organization.
* Support the day-to-day activities of the business units by troubleshooting business system issues that are escalated beyond the departmental subject matter experts. Prioritize demands.


* Conduct and participate in planning and prioritization meetings with business representatives. Develop a prioritized list of project work including software modifications, report requests, and other business system-related development work to reflect the priorities of the organization.


* Serve as a liaison between functional staff and both internal and external technical staff to recommend, develop, and test program modifications, or introduce new functionality to the business community.


* Create or assist writing process documentation and standard work documents. Update these documents to reflect new and improved process changes implemented in ERP.


* Develop and test detailed functional design documents for business solution components and prototypes.


* Conduct application build, test, and deploy activities.



MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

* 5 years' related experience, including:
* 2 years ERP experience, either Microsoft Dynamics AX or other ERP (i.e. SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft), CRM or BI products, or equivalent experience in finance/accounting analytical fields


* Experience in requirements gathering process for IT systems


* Experience with reporting, queries and business intelligence


* Experience with data analytics and dashboards


* Experience with MSSQL server, SSRS is a plus


* Experience with technical solution description and documentation





MINIMUM EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED:

* Bachelor's Degree in a related field such as business or technology
* An equivalent combination of experience may be considered



SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED:

* Demonstrated knowledge in system upgrades, integrations, configurations, customizations and support


* Strong, broad knowledge of functional business areas such as accounting, purchasing, planning, inventory, sales and customer service


* Working knowledge of at least one software development methodology preferred


* Working knowledge of Microsoft platform skills preferred


* Results oriented / self-directed ability to drive change


* Strong client interface and presentation skills


* Strong business acumen


* Excellent interpersonal skills - 'Customer Focused'
