Franciscan Medical Group is currently seeking a per diem BI Data Architect fro the Franciscan Business Intelligence department in Tacoma, WA. Job Summary:

This job is responsible for designing/developing/testing/maintaining a trusted database(s)/data warehouse(s) of authoritative core information that can be used consistently across the organization and will evolve in a managed manner to facilitate operational/decision support systems and meet changing business needs/priorities. An incumbent leads the development of technical processes for integrating, aggregating, matching, consolidating, quality-assuring and distributing data collected from multiple sources to ensure a common definition, consistency, accuracy and control in the ongoing maintenance and usage. Work also involves designing and producing a wide variety of complex custom and internally-developed balanced scorecards, dashboards, reports, analytics/metrics and associated business intelligence tools in support of CHI Franciscan Health's (CHI-FH) business objectives, priorities and strategic initiatives. Key areas of focus include trend reporting, forecasting, in-depth analysis of clinical/operational metrics and design/definition of meaningful metrics for new/existing initiatives/services/products.

An incumbent provides authoritative advice and guidance on the application of data management standards/practices to reinforce the importance of consistency, completeness and accuracy as key characteristics of high data quality and to meet escalating demands for critical business data intelligence imposed by various quality initiatives and regulatory requirements. In performing the work, an understanding of a wide variety of business systems/applications, data types and range of formats is required, as well as the business purpose behind data management needs. Work also requires sufficient expertise to address and resolve non-compatibility issues between systems/applications and to validate the accuracy and appropriateness of complex and multi-dimensional data

Work also includes: 1) meeting with stakeholders to define system data and reporting needs, and to assure that gaps in current systems/practices are identified/addressed; 2) determining most credible data sources, abstracting technique and format to use to best deliver outcomes to intended audiences; 3) keeping abreast of changing organization needs and priorities, and identifying quality improvement initiatives to enhance/streamline current procedures/processes; 4) working with CHI-IT regarding local needs, including space/memory allocations, network issues, backups, etc.; 5) collaborating with internal departments to gain access to their data in order to create balanced reports/metrics; 6) identifying, troubleshooting and resolving data management issues (within scope of position); 7) presenting and explaining data to various leadership and management audiences to facilitate understanding of the information needed to support clinical practices/organizational priorities and provide actionable opportunities for improvement.

Work requires knowledge of hierarchical/relational database design/development (including, but not limited to, SQL Server-SSIS/SSMS, T-SQL) and application development (including, but not limited to, Access/VBA/ODBC), as well as Epic reporting and business intelligence tools, and expertise with respect to data architecture, technical documentation and end-user training/support. Also requires knowledge of data modeling and data warehouse design principles. Work requires strong customer service, communication, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, as well as the ability to keep abreast of new system technologies/applications and changing organizational needs, objectives and priorities.

Presents, interprets and explains report content to various audiences including senior management, physicians/providers performance improvement teams, and other stakeholders to support department operations and decision-making processes relating to improved patient access to facilities/services.

Essential Duties:

Designs, develops and implements authoritative master data solutions supporting analytical and reporting requirements and business intelligence-based decision-making; assures the timely availability of consistent and trustworthy data which is fundamental to meaningful analytics and allows for seamless integration into business processes and analytical environments.

Leads development of data integration protocols, including designing, developing, maintaining and overseeing technical processes that extract, transform and load (ETL) data from various data sources into the Database Management System (DBMS).

Prepares recurring and special aggregated data reports, balanced scorecards and related metrics specific to the assigned function by obtaining/manipulating electronic and abstracted data from various automated systems and utilizing complex report-writing applications; collaborates with end users to understand reporting requirements and specifications.

Develops and maintains timely, accurate and comprehensive documentation of databases, process flow, project summaries and end-user documentation; ensures that reports containing consolidated data are based on common data definitions.

Serves as technical resource and provides guidance to less experienced staff; troubleshoots more complex issues and resolves within scope of position.

Develops, implements and maintains internal procedures for continuous monitoring of the quality/accuracy of data collected and entered or retrieved through electronic interfaces; monitors overall data quality and accuracy.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Healthcare Analytics or other related discipline and a minimum of five years of directly related work experience (including data management and analysis) that would demonstrate attainment of the requisite job knowledge/abilities.

Or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
