Summary:

As a BI Architect, you will apply expert technical and business skills primarily on data warehousing and reporting deliverables. Primary outcomes of the role include reliable satisfaction of customer needs; timely and accurate responses and mitigation to business requests; a strong record of delivering above and beyond the basics; and evolution in Decisive Data's data platform tools, techniques, and methods.

You will interact with clients, often leading a technical team, to gather, refine, and execute on business requirements. You will also support more junior BI Developer colleagues with technical guidance, troubleshooting assistance, etc., and will help the CSO, Data Integration Practice Lead, and Data Platform Team Leads to establish best practices for the Data Platform team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Represent Decisive Data professionally at all times
* Identify opportunities to expand Decisive Data's role with and value to current customers
* Oversee large, complex data warehousing and ETL solutions both hands-on and at an architectural level
* Advise clients on data architecture, infrastructure, and security
* Create SSAS Tabular cubes with refined user experiences and programmatic management
* Develop ad-hoc queries and reports upon client's request
* Develop application databases
* Occasional travel may be required, based on client need
* Some sales activities may be required

Education/Experience:

* 6+ years of SQL and ETL development
* Prior technical leadership preferred
* Strong working knowledge of cloud data architecture for analytics
* Experience with both GUI- and code-based ETL/ELT tools
* Highly refined understanding of ETL and ELT principles such as dimensional modeling, metadata-driven ETL, data lake principles, and schema-on-read for both relational and non-relational data
* Excellent problem solving, analytical, communication, and customer-facing skills
* Clear ability to evaluate, learn, and implement new technologies, especially in the realms of scripting, automation, and cloud services

Skills/Abilities:

* Top-notch client communication via email and in conversation
* Expert-level knowledge of at least one major vendor's SQL implementation, including programmability features, optimization techniques, and storage/resource/system factors
* Extensive experience designing and implementing star-schema data models
* Familiarity with common security measures for analytical systems
* Working knowledge of Python or other scripting language(s)
* Experience with source control tools such as Git or TFS
* Implementation experience with cloud database systems (especially Snowflake) strongly preferred
* Comfort with non-relational data management at scale and for varied use cases
* S. in computer science, MIS, or related field preferred
* Microsoft SQL Server certifications preferred
* Working knowledge of data blending tools such as Alteryx is a plus
