Job Description

The Position

BGC Partners is currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Database Engineer to join team responsible for database architecture, design, development and support. The deployment is in electronic broking and low latency trading applications. The databases in the environment run on a large scale global deployment. There is an operations at scale focus the candidate will be responsible for developing automation around deployment, management and administration process. The candidate must be able to work well within a larger team.

Professional / Technical Skills

Strong experience with 2 of the 3 systems in our environment Microsoft SQL, Oracle, Sybase

Developing database automation (deployment, patching and management)

Ability to manage a large fleet of databases in a global deployment

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum of ten years Database administration experience

Experience managing high frequency, low latency trading systems a plus

Experience with large scale datacenter deployments

Financial services experience a plus

Systems engineering, integration and automation of mission critical platforms

Design and implement disaster recovery procedures

Deliver solutions with a sense of urgency

Must have strong experience in Cloud (Azure/AWS)

Pluses

Experience with open source SQL databases (MySQL or PostgreSQL)

Some experience with noSQL databases (such as Mongo, HBase, Cassandra, …)

Financial services experience

Experience managing high frequency, low latency trading systems
