PNT (Positioning, Navigation, and Timing)
MITRE has a long and distinguished history in this field including our contributions to the design of new GPS signals, the development of software radio GPS receivers, and the development of novel satellite navigation receivers.
We have opportunities for talented engineers and scientists interested in applying their technical expertise towards furthering the public good by developing, applying, and evaluating state-of-the-art navigation technologies. Projects include:
* State-of-the-art signal processing algorithms for navigation systems (radio navigation, inertial sensors, atomic clocks, vision navigation, etc.)
* Next generation signals for satellite and radio navigation
* Navigation equipment in high-interference and stressed environments
* Advanced GPS receiver technology
Electronic Systems and Embedded Security
MITRE's Electronic System Development team implementing state of the art electronic prototypes for advanced sensor, communication, and navigation systems. MITRE provides exciting opportunities to help design and prototype state of the art embedded systems using commercial and custom platforms. Projects include:
* Cutting edge communication and sensor signal processing systems using software defined radio (SDR) platforms
* Real-time embedded software leveraging homogeneous and heterogeneous GPP, DSP, and GPU architectures
* Advanced architectures for high throughput embedded processing
* Low SWaPC, highly integrated custom platforms
Sensor Systems Engineering
MITRE provides sensor systems engineering support (design, engineering, prototyping and test) across a broad range of high-tech radar, antenna and EW related projects. The team performs hands-on research and analysis and develops proof-of-concept prototypes to advance the state-of-the-art. Projects include:
* Performing trade studies, design, modeling and simulation, implementation and testing
* Performing research to advance the state of the art in sensor technologies
* Prototype new software algorithms and hardware designs for insertion into existing and developmental radar.
Wireless Communication
MITRE's SIGINT, Communications, and PNT department is seeking cutting edge electrical engineers and scientists who are interested in solving the next generation's challenges in development, application, and evaluation of state-of-the-art communications systems. Projects include:
* • Performing detailed modeling and simulation of communications and/or sensor systems
* Designing and applying digital signal processing algorithms to communications problems
* Developing techniques to detect, locate, and identify signals
* Developing secure communications and signal intelligence capabilities
* Exploring, developing, and assessing waveform capabilities
