Job Description

The AWS Kumo team is looking for a Security Engineer with a strong passion for utilizing big data and data analytics to achieve security-at-scale.

You will operate at the convergence of the hottest areas in tech: Big Data, Analytics, Security, Software Development and Cloud Services. You will develop a broad and deep understanding of the overall AWS security posture, work closely with AWS Security partner teams and AWS service teams to identify security threats, and use your security insight to relentlessly drive improvements to the AWS Kumo security posture through hands-on data analysis and automation of analytics. You will work with an immense amount of data and push the envelope with various advanced analytical techniques to find and mitigate security threats.

The AWS Kumo team is responsible for the security and availability of all AWS Support Tools and Technologies used by AWS to support its customers. This is a high visibility team that solves security challenges at a massive scale. AWS Kumo is one of the rare AWS teams that have software assets whose scope includes every AWS Service and every AWS account. Because of its broad mission and scope AWS Kumo needs a Security Engineer to help shape and drive best-practice security policies across the many technology assets that are owned by Kumo.

Specific Duties:

* Design and build an automated pipeline for classifying AWS public APIs
* Participate in AWS-wide initiatives to build a security classification system for AWS public APIs.
* Provide subject matter expertise on the classification of AWS Public API portfolio
* Conduct sophisticated security reviews - from high-level infrastructure architecture to application-level parameters to code-level reviews in order to meet security goals
* Contribute to the design and evolution of Kumo's security infrastructure
* Help design dynamic AUTHZ software that creates real-time resource rights policies.

General Duties:

* Recognize, adopt, and instill security best practices throughout the organization
* Advise and consult with internal customers on risk assessment, threat modeling, and vulnerability remediation
* Build security utilities and tools for internal use that enable you and your fellow Security Engineers to operate at high speed and broad scale
* Develop and deliver training materials and perform general security awareness and specific security technology training
* Participate in incident response
* Evangelize security within Kumo and be an advocate for customer trust
