The AWS Infrastructure Operations organization is looking for an extraordinary individual with a progressive career history. The Global Data Center Availability leader is responsible for the creation and ownership of key aspects of Operational Data Center Availability (post construction hand-off). This role will co-lead the entirety of the AWS Operations Availability Management system (AMS). The AMS consists of critical input programs that create the required operational posture in order to maintain high levels of customer Availability. These programs, many of which are on-going, ensure the right technical knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing Equipment (MEP), equipment, their critical operating procedures and most important - their mechanisms are in place before we ask AWS employees to stand in front of live Data Center Infrastructure. You will work with data center operations teams and Design & Construction teams across AWS to Identify High Blast Radius Processes that need standardization, partner with functional teams to develop, deploy, measure, automate and streamline key processes, tools and mechanisms, and ultimately influence future Data Center Design where applicable.

In this role you will be challenged by the environment, your peers, and your customers. It will take a seasoned professional with experience interfacing with senior leadership to excel in this position. To be a qualified candidate for this role you must also demonstrate the ability to think broadly and strategically and function in a space with high levels of ambiguity where success is not abundantly clear at all times (think tech start-up). The ideal candidate will need a wide-ranging background. Success in this role will require a candidate to have a deep understanding of Data Center infrastructure, interpersonal dynamics and the ability to motivate top talent to a cause bigger than themselves. You rely heavily on influence over authority to drive program deliverables.

This role is based in Herndon, VA. Expect to travel globally where and when needed to manage and/or support initiatives of the teams you will support, ~ 20% travel.
