Bell is seeking an Autonomy Software Engineer to join Bell's Innovation Team and support the development of new and novel products and platforms. The requirements associated with the integration of vehicles in urban environments, including Air Taxi and Product transportation/delivery are challenging and exciting. The emerging concept vehicles provide opportunities for engineering, simulation, and test of configurations and technologies that will shape the future of aviation. This position will be a part of a diverse team of engineers capable of executing in a fast-paced environment.

Engineering opportunities are available in the development, integration, and testing of Autonomous and Unmanned systems.

These positions may be located at Bell's headquarters facility in Ft. Worth, TX or the Bell Flight Research Center in Arlington, TX.

The Autonomy Software Engineer is responsible for (but not limited to) supporting the following:

* Design, development and test of autonomous navigation, visual odometry, obstacle avoidance, object identification and comparable control behaviors.
* Development and support for DO-178 and other standards relevant to software certification for aircraft.
* Participation and involvement in architecture, interface, capability definition, requirements generation, design artifacts, simulation, verification, and validation activities.
* Application of control and image processing techniques to aircraft, with preference to unmanned and autonomous aircraft.
* Must be willing to mentor young engineers in the areas described above.

Education Requirements

* B.S. degree is required in Computer Science, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering or Applied Sciences (Physics)
* Masters Degree in the Engineering disciplines mentioned above is highly preferred.

Position Requirements

* Experience at all levels will be considered with a minimum of 2 years specific experience with autonomous control and navigation software experience. Preference will be given for additional work in flight controls, avionics, sensor integration and systems development
* Familiarity with relevant standards, for example, most or all of: RTCA DO-160, MIL-STD-810, RTCA DO-178, RTCA DO-254, SAE ARP 4754A, SAE ARP 4761, 14 CFR Part 27 and Part 29 for commercial and military qualification and certification of aircraft systems.
* Experience with most or all of the following Primary Development Environment tools or equivalent:

o Mathworks MATLAB/Simulink

o C/C code

o Git

o Embedded systems programming highly desired, specific experience with:

o ROS

o UML/SysML.
