Job Description

MITRE's Cognitive Science and Artificial Intelligence (CSAI) Department has a new opportunity for a strong technical candidate with a STEM degree to join an innovative team of engineers focused on developing autonomous systems solutions for sponsor needs and developing robotics capabilities for a safer world.

The right candidate will enjoy a fast-paced team environment and working with cutting-edge technology. We are seeking a self-starter that assists in building robotics and autonomous systems projects. The candidate for this position will work a wide variety of challenging activities in direct support of sponsor programs and will support MITRE's AI and autonomy efforts.

Day to day responsibilities:

* Work on a team to develop and implement autonomy algorithms on robotics hardware
* Develop and use modern software engineering techniques to develop robust robotics software
* Maintain knowledge of advances of autonomy and robotics capabilities in industry and academia
* Collect and analyze sensor and algorithm data to improve robotics system performance.
* Develop, propose and execute research in the field of autonomy and AI.
* Evaluate autonomy and AI solutions and compare to sponsor requirements and needs.

Requirements / must have for consideration:

* Must be a US citizen able to obtain and maintain a US government clearance
* Bachelor's Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering Physics, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or Software Engineering, or similar field
* Proven ability to work independently to learn new technologies, techniques, processes, languages, platforms, systems
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to foster relationship development with sponsors

Preferred:

* Knowledge of robotics and autonomous systems technologies, techniques, architectures, and algorithms.
* Experience in robotics-relevant fields, such as computer vision, deep learning, machine learning, planning, human machine teaming, and multi-robot systems.
* Experience with robotics software and frameworks, e.g. ROS.
* Experience with programming languages such as C++ and python.
* Knowledge of the challenges of developing autonomous systems that are robust in real world scenarios.
* Knowledge of software engineering practices such as continuous integration, source control, software testing.
* Preference given to qualified candidates holding an active DoD clearance.
