Software engineering is the application of engineering to the design, development, implementation, testing and maintenance of software in a systematic method. The roles in this function will cover all primary development activity across all technology functions that ensure we deliver code with high quality for our applications, products and services and to understand customer needs and to develop product roadmaps.

The Associate Software Engineer role is responsible for working with a team of software engineers, QA, product managers, and other resources to build Optum Performance Analytics (OPA), a healthcare and data analytics platform. The OPA product encompasses development of MicroStrategy reports and dashboards, data models and ETL built on big data technologies, and the development of custom software to enhance the native capabilities of MicroStrategy and to automate data processing and deployment of new content and features. The team is currently engaged in a large effort to move Optum Performance Analytics (OPA) to Amazon Web Services.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Work as a member of a team of software engineers to develop Optum Performance Analytics


* Responsible for development, testing, and support of software written in Java and / or Python OR the development of dossiers and reports in MicroStrategy.


* Participate in code and design reviews


* Assist in production troubleshooting and operations



Required Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree or higher


* 1 years of experience developing software in Java and / or Python OR 1 year experience in report development in modern BI tool similar to MicroStrategy



Preferred Qualifications:

* Amazon Web Services experience


* Familiarity with MicroStrategy or other BI tools


* Experience with SQL


* Experience with Scala


* Healthcare industry experience
