The Applications Analyst ('Analyst') is part of the Workforce Management Systems (WMS) team that designs and implements application solutions. Under general direction from the Applications Manager of ITS WMS, the Analyst will contribute to the successful implementation, maintenance, and support of complex technology solutions in support of workforce management and risk management initiatives. In addition, the Analyst is involved in the ongoing support and maintenance of various applications, including Kronos Workforce Central, RiskMaster Accelerator, SAP Business Objects, and the Datix UHC Safety Intelligence application. The Analyst may manage and lead small to medium projects as assigned; and may serve as a lead for project components such as the testing processes, training processes, and production readiness processes.

This position will provide an array of cross-functional systems knowledge and systems skills for applications used by multiple UW Medicine customer groups in the areas of Human Resources, Payroll, Hospital Staffing, Productivity, and Risk Management. The Analyst job duties span the entire lifecycle of UW Medicine systems, including requirements gathering, business process analysis/improvement, system design, software configuration, application testing, system delivery, and system troubleshooting and support.

This position will work with other ITS teams to define, implement, and support end-user applications suitable to the needs of UW Medicine. This position will work with other WMS team members, the Medical Centers' HR, Finance, and Risk Management business customers, the technical staff of UW Information Technology as well as with end-users to support the successful implementation of software releases and maintenance of the applications supported by WMS.

The primary responsibilities of the Analyst are to:

Work with other analysts, developers, customers and vendors to elicit, analyze and document requirements.

Design, configure and test solutions to meet functional requirements.

Provide production support and ongoing maintenance of WMS and Risk Management applications.

Develop documentation in support of application design, support and maintenance.

The Analyst must work collaboratively with a diverse medical center user base, such as administrators, directors, managers, and other staff to ensure system designs and implementations meet client business requirements. The Analyst must have a high-level knowledge of UW Medicine finance, payroll, HR, and risk management operations to effectively support application business owners. In addition, the Analyst must collaborate with other ITS teams within UW Medicine to ensure supported applications align with enterprise technical and policy requirements.

The supported applications encompass the financial and administrative aspects of medical center operations utilized by staff and employees. The Analyst will be expected to provide a wide variety of technical support and proactive monitoring of applications, integrations between applications, databases, and timekeeping devices. The incumbent will prepare and maintain technical documentation; perform application/project analysis; design, build, and test application changes; lead and coordinate projects as assigned; collaborate with application vendors as necessary, and perform other tasks as required to accomplish work objectives.

UW Medicine relies on enterprise wide technological solutions and electronic information to support the medical centers' missions and operational goals. These systems must be available on a 24x7 basis to ensure that operational functions are not disrupted, timekeeping data is accurately recorded in a timely manner, and management and staff have access to required data. The availability of the information as well as the security of the information is of the highest priority.

Responsibilities include:

Systems Analysis, Design, Configuration, and Build (45%)

Work with other analysts, developers, customers and vendors to elicit, analyze and document requirements.

Design, configure and test solutions to meet functional requirements.

Coordinate and perform system configuration changes necessary to enhance and/or maintain the WMS applications, using standard Client/Server and/or Web technologies.

Lead and assist in the requirements gathering/documentation, design, configuration and testing of the Kronos application.

Coordinate and follow required Change Control processes to ensure proper approval, coordination, and communication of systems changes.

Proactively Monitor and Maintain Systems (40%)

Manage customer problem and enhancement requests.

Coordinate and assist in resolution of application and process problems.

Work closely with the UW Medicine IT Services Help Desk to provide efficient and responsive support to end user staff.

Liaison with functional analysts, business analysts, developers and end users.

Act as a liaison and/or facilitate communication between end users and IT Services system administrators, other analysts and programmers.

Work with user groups to provide diagnostic assistance, resolution to questions and problem direction.

Work with vendors, IT Services staff and users to resolve issues and confirm satisfactory resolutions.

Develop and Maintain Systems Documentation (10%)

Maintain accurate documentation of system changes and issues using standard methodologies.

Provide weekly status reports. Information should be accurate, timely, and pertinent.

Develop or modify system and business requirements and specifications.

Maintain test plans and scripts for system and user acceptance testing.

Identify need for and document support plans and service level agreements.

Vendor Management (5%)

Provide ongoing management of vendor relationships.

Track open issues for resolution and routinely report on status.

Provide oversight to vendor resources assigned to production work, including planned and unplanned outages, project work, and issue resolution.

What you'll bring to the table: (minimum requirements)

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or other related field or equivalent combination of education/experience.

3+ years IT experience must include the following:

2+ years of progressively responsible systems analysis, design, development, implementation, and support experience including analyzing business processes, defining customer requirements, designing solutions, writing specifications, configuring systems, testing, and maintaining software applications.

2+ years' relevant functional/business process experience with workforce management and/or risk management solutions (e.g., labor scheduling and time and attendance).

Experience in the design and delivery of applications and systems support.

Extensive experience working with business requirements and/or business use case development.

Experience developing and executing test plans and test cases.

Experience working within a formal software development and release management lifecycle process.

Knowledge of relational database systems such as Oracle or SQL.

Knowledge of database structures, data definitions, and data relationships.

Responsibility in supporting large-scale enterprise customers, both internal and external.

Ability to provide accurate project timeline estimates.

End user support and documentation experience.

Experience in the design and delivery of applications and systems support.

Previous work experience supporting large-scale enterprise customers, both internal and external.

Previous experience working in a IT Healthcare application support setting.

Knowledge of security and privacy issues in the healthcare industry.

Experience with SQL query language and/or Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).

Experience with Kronos Workforce Management Systems, specifically Workforce Scheduler and Workforce Timekeeping.

Experience with RiskManager Accelerator and Patient Safety Net.

What are some of the other tidbits that you might want to know?

The individual in this position is expected to work normal daytime hours. However, significant off-hours and weekends may be needed to resolve problems and during implementation and maintenance activities. This individual is also expected to be available for call on a 24x7 basis as needed.

Because of the physically separated sites for UW Medicine, this position requires the ability to quickly access sites, using personal means of transportation. Travel to/from includes, but is not limited to, UW Medical Center, Harborview Medical Center, downtown Seattle, and other facilities which are affiliated with UW Medicine
