Job Description

We're looking for an Application Engineer to join Team Snapchat! As a member of Enterprise Apps team, you will design & architect, ship quality code and perform PRs. Working from our Los Angeles, CA headquarters, you'll collaborate with various teams to build scalable backend applications targeted at both daily users as well as enterprise clients. You should be an expert in any backend technologies and should have shipped scalable applications.

What you'll do:

* Design & build highly scalable applications for complex systems as well as high-quality tools

* Perform and take the lead in designing, developing, and documenting software. Evaluate third-party software products for integration with various Snap Inc. applications

* Partner with key product owners, customers, and engineering leadership to ensure alignment on project priorities

* Provide solutions to improve performance and build metrics for various applications and integrations

* Mentor junior engineering staff through the development process

* Work with product managers to drive strategic and tactical initiatives

* Take technical ownership of projects and managing resources

Minimum qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field

* 7+ years of experience working in backend development in latest technologies

* Must have experience in Java, with the ability to switch between languages and technologies

* Experience with PaaS and IaaS (Google App Engine, Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, etc.) platforms

* Experienced in building scalable backend APIs

* Experience using web services, SOAP, REST APIs, BigQuery, Relational Database

* Experience in understanding code bases, including API design techniques

Preferred qualifications:

* Working knowledge of using a variety of APIs - Google, Facebook and other social media to extend functionality, mobile websites, audio/video for web and other web-related technologies

* Experience mentoring other engineers

* Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently

* Experience working with distributed systems preferred

* Experience with mobile apps would definitely a plus
