About the Team

Ellation's architecture team acts as a group of thought leaders within the engineering organization with the mission to guide the evolution of our technology platform. As a member of the team you will look across the platform to identify optimizations and define "What's next?" in our technical strategy. The team is comprised of architectural representation from each of our platform domains and operates cross-functionally to efficiently deliver solutions.

Location: San Francisco

Our headquarters is located in downtown San Francisco, where our group of cross-functional experts assemble to create experiences for Crunchyroll and VRV's passionate communities.

About You:

* Ability to operate in a lead role across a broad set of cross-functional domains
* Have their own vision for what needs to be done and create new work for others based on sound architectural design
* Ability to create their own roadmap and initiatives.
* Ability to write external facing technical white papers, appear in conferences or industry events, etc.
* Evangelist for engineering best practices
* Ability to contribute to a multi-year technical and architectural strategy
* Ability to provide cost analysis and impact across the company for technical initiatives
* Exceptional understanding of all aspects of stack architecture and design best practices; authors/socializes architectural proposals
* Exceptional proficiency with infrastructure, AWS, and VM environments
* Exceptional understanding of API and REST architecture
* Exceptional proficiency with SQL, remote database connections, and writing queries
* Exceptional proficiency writing clean, functional code
* Thorough understanding of coding style, fundamentals, and best practices
* Strong written and oral communication and ability to discuss core concepts of infrastructure implementation
* Exceptionally collaborative team player
* Advocate and mentor for agile principles and process
* Understanding of software lifecycle and balance of quality vs. release efficiency
* Leader in architecture discussions and across engineering through technical excellence.
* Exceptional proficiency with hardware and networking
* Proficient at strategizing technical debt removal and fixed when encountered
* Demonstrates proficiency mentoring engineers
* Exceptional interpersonal skills when interacting with team and external teams

A day in the life of our Application Architect:

* Define and advocate best practices and guidelines for application development
* Assess application architectures for optimizations, vulnerabilities, and potential issues
* Assess application code for optimizations, vulnerabilities, and potential issues
* Provide solutions for developer enablement
* Mentor application developers
* Participate in Ellation's Architecture Oversight Group (AOG)
* Participate in cross-functional architecture team to build POCs and systems with complex architectures
* Lead definition of service initiatives
* Research and provide proposals on future services and optimizations to Ellation's technology platform
* Submit code to projects to fulfill any of the above
* Interface with stakeholders and participate in planning for systems and services to extend our platform
