Evangelist, advocate, community builder, whatever you want to call it, since Guy Kawasaki of Apple popularized the concept of "technology evangelism," the role has become a staple addition for software outreach. New startups and corporations alike now often hire evangelists - a rather nebulous breed of employee between sales, marketing, engineering, and support. Evangelists tread many different camps, know their product in and out, receive feedback from the community, and work to better the product and consumer experience.

In terms of API Evangelism, the candidate:

* Must intimately understand audience, but must also foresee shifts in audience that could occur as a product grows.
* Must always be prepared to communicate value in many situations - whether it is a quick description to a colleague, writing tutorials in a developer center, a long-form blog post, or pitching a demo at an event
* Ensure the program is attractive, usable & support channels are in place to aid onboarding
* Be vocal. Online they blog, prowl Stack Overflow, maintain GitHub repos, manage developer-dedicated social channels, and respond to all comments or questions.
* Host, attend, or speak at events
* Spend a lot of time on the on-boarding process, how developers get started, with great API documentation. But not just "reference" documentation, but thinking hard about concrete use cases, in terms of scenarios: developer X wants to do Y, here is how to do it with the API.
* Translate technology trends

Key Responsibilities

* Drive awareness about the Tata Communications API in the developer community through developer forums, social media - wherever discussions are taking place and additional participation at hackathons.
* Produce content (e.g. blog posts, example apps, videos, tutorials, tweets) to increase the awareness of Tata Communications APIs.
* Deliver effective presentations/demos with technical content to small and large audiences of developers, marketing agencies, IT companies, etc.
* Develop documentation for new APIs that help developers in the development process.
* Provide engineering support for sales team; participate on sales calls, suggest integration options, liaison between sales and engineering, etc.
* Identify, initiate and close partnerships with other IT businesses and detect complementary APIs that add value added services to the Tata Communications API.
* Provide developer support on Tata Communications developer forums, email, twitter, etc.
* Share and lead by example by writing code samples in applicable languages and frameworks that help developers access our API. Share and create case studies on the use of the Tata Communications API.
* Guide API road map by development of product requirements documents, including competitive analysis, market overview, customer needs analysis, product position and features list.
