Analytic Linguistic Project Manager

Location: New York, NY

Duration: 6 months

Description:

* Jigsaw uses technology to address geopolitical issues. Products include Outline (making it easy for news organizations to set up a corporate VPN on their own server), Perspective (machine learning to detect toxicity in online conversations), and more. Candidate will work alongside a team of technologists and researchers working to improve the lives of at-risk users, including activists, journalists, and targeted minority groups around the world.

The role of the project manager includes:

* Identify and build optimal datasets for annotation, using various sampling techniques with Python and SQL.
* Work with engineers to define and create golden annotations.
* Manage data annotation efforts, including preparing input data, monitoring annotation jobs, and post-processing results.
* Coordinate and contribute to quality analysis for annotated data.

Skill/Experience/Education:

Mandatory

* BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Computational Linguistics, or a related degree 2+ years' experience managing complex projects Familiarity with data annotation and/or crowdsourcing Experience running Python scripts Experience with Unix/Linux Experience with SQL and databases, including writing queries and data transformation Some familiarity with machine learning concepts Analytical background and a good eye for detail Good written and verbal communication skills

Desired:

* Experience writing Python scripts and improving processes or adding automation
* Experience working with data across languages
