Work in MITRE's Center for Advanced Aviation System Development to provide Air Traffic Control subject matter expertise and FAA automation system engineering support for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in the Terminal/TRACON domain.

Key Functions:

* Support terminal/tower Air Traffic Management (ATM) definition and evolution planning efforts for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). * Work within an existing team of system engineers and operational domain experts to help the FAA define and evaluate concepts and automation systems for evolving operations in the terminal/tower domain. * Interact with the FAA sponsor, other contractors, airline representatives, and CAASD subject matter experts. * Be responsible for developing concepts, capability definitions, and requirements for the next generation of terminal/tower capabilities. * Help define a system evolution path that will support terminal/tower related components of the Next Generation (NexGen) Air Transportation System. * Perform analyses, and support evaluations to identify operational and research issues with tower and surface time-based flow management and collaborative decision making. * Main emphasis on the tower and surface domain, but may also extend to other areas such as TRACON operations, time-based flow management, traffic flow management, and cross-domain interoperability.

Required Qualifications:

* Experience in a variety of terminal (Tower and TRACON) facilities, holding a variety of roles, such as controller, automation specialist, traffic management coordinator, operations manager, and/or supervisor. * Able to work collaboratively with others and have experience leading teams. * Excellent writing and communication skills are required.

Preferred Qualifications:

* BS or equivalent and 15 years of air traffic control experience in the terminal domain

Minimum Qualifications:

BS and 8 years related experience.
