AIM Cloud, Infrastructure and DevOps Architect

The Cloud and Infrastructure Architect will be part of the Enterprise Architecture (EA) team at AIM. They will play a key role in helping AIM achieve its strategic objectives by aligning IT investments/initiatives with the mapping and enablement of business capabilities, establish technology roadmaps that reduce technology lifecycle risk, standardize deployments for all solutions systems and enable rapid delivery of adaptive solutions that helps in achieving optimal business agility and efficiency. This key role will help set the strategy for AIM development projects and provide the technical guidance to the Infrastructure and DevOps organizations. Additionally, the individual selected will help guide AIM's use of Cloud based technologies in our hybrid cloud environment.

The Cloud and Infrastructure Architect will be responsible for providing leadership and expertise on technical platform and solution architecture issues; successfully designing, managing and delivering as part of internal IT consultancies or as subject experts; and researching, evaluating and proposing new technologies & tools to achieve corporate & IT objectives and strategies. The position is also responsible for effectively guiding and developing the principles of DevOps.

Scope of responsibilities of someone at this level includes leading technical architecture design and implementation activities of a large area of functional processing. Assists in the design, administration, analysis, evaluation, troubleshooting, and documenting of complex existing technology solutions. Assists with more complex testing, verification and analysis of all elements of the systems' capabilities. Helps make decisions and determine policy to maximize system availability. Understands the business impact of events and decisions made relating to system changes/enhancements.

Essential Job Functions:

* Understand, advocate and augment the principles of enterprise architecture standards
* Drive the infrastructure architecture across AIM's hybrid cloud including storage, network, and compute resources across multiple data centers
* Establish AIM specific strategies for use of Cloud technologies, processes and procedures
* Drive the application of current and the selection of new technologies as they relate to DevOps capabilities to include build, test, deployment, monitoring, and day-2 operations
* Analyze technology industry and market trends, and determine their potential impact on the enterprise
* Develop a road map of the evolution of the DevOps technical portfolio from current to future state (as defined by the Technology and Architecture Governance Team)
* Analyze the IT environment to detect critical technology deficiencies, and recommend strategies for improvement
* Engage in governance activities associated with ensuring architecture and technical compliance
* Coordinate solution architecture implementation and modification activities
* Participate in the evaluation and selection of software product standards, as well as the design of standard software configurations
* Consult with application development projects to fit systems or infrastructure to architecture, and identify when it is necessary to modify the solution architecture to accommodate project needs
* Identify the organizational impact (for example, on skills, processes, structures or culture) and financial impact of the road map
* Support and document solution architecture design and analysis work
* Performs other duties as requested by senior management

Responsibilities

* Assists with preparing roadmaps, phased approaches to accomplish a long term plan
* Participates in the project planning activities for the project or activity
* Provides status reporting as necessary (may be defined by the domain, project, etc.)
* Promotes adherence to Domain and Enterprise Architectural direction, standards and guidelines
* Adheres to the enterprise Product Evaluation and Acquisition Process
* Provides communication and documentation of architectural impacts and risks to the appropriate parties
* Shares project architecture details with the rest of the AIM architecture community via domain architecture reviews, architecture assurance boards
* Provides technical consulting and troubleshooting throughout project life cycle
* Supports other architects by participating/coordinating in domain architecture reviews and architecture assurance boards
* Participates in project related research and development
* Coaches and mentor's general architectural patterns, standards, guidelines, issues, etc.
* Participates in project meetings as needed
* Conducts and attends design, code inspections and peer reviews as needed
* Provides architectural support for Operational Readiness activities
* Supports and drives disaster recovery processes, procedures and exercises
* Engages support areas as needed (e.g. Development, DBA, Network, Messaging, etc.)
* Maintains architectural documentation between SDLC phases and as appropriate

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in computer science, systems analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience
* 8 years of experience in at least two IT disciplines in a client/server or service-oriented architecture (SOA) environment, including technical architecture, network management, application development, middleware, database management or operations
* 8 plus years of experience in the definition and operations of complex infrastructure environments, across multiple data centers
* 3-5 years of experience operating and leveraging public / private cloud
* Strong understanding of network architectures including software defined networks
* 3 - 5 years of experience in leveraging CI/CD pipeline tools sets
* High level of understanding of long-range strategies High Availability and business continuity
* Experience with CI/CD tools including Urban Code, Jenkins, Maven, etc.
* Excellent knowledge of and experience with container frameworks including Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, PKS, PAS, etc.
* 3 - 5 years of experience leading DevOps activities and teams
* 3 - 5 years of experience at a Healthcare organization is desirable
* Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments
* Exceptional interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation and negotiation
* Strong leadership skills

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Excellent planning and organizational skills
* Knowledge of all components of an enterprise technical architecture
* Knowledge of business process re-engineering principles and processes
* Basic knowledge of financial models and budgeting

* Ability to understand the long-term ("big picture") and short-term perspectives of situations
* Ability to translate business needs into solution architecture requirements
* Ability to estimate the financial impact of solution architecture alternatives
* Ability to apply multiple technical solutions to business problems
* Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies
* Familiarity with disaster recovery strategies
* Advanced knowledge in system analysis & design
* Programming in one or more languages
* Knowledge of RDBMS such as SQL server, MongoDB, SAP HANA
* Conceptual & functional knowledge of MicroServices, JSON/REST, XML, HTTP, Web Services, Network & Firewall
