Job Summary: The person hired for the position of Software Development Manager, Cloud Platform is technically capable and credible, as well as effective in shaping the direction of our technology, product and services platform. You must enjoy learning and introducing new approaches and direction to help colleagues and our teams embrace and adopt new architectural patterns and cloud technologies. You are a thought leader and look beyond the technology and consider the value technology creates for our customers and our product teams. You make data-based decisions and lead your team to answer complex problems through thoughtful analysis of data. You will build teams and help team members ramp-up on AWS as well as develop speaking, writing, presentation, and executive interaction skills of your team members. You will also be adept at interacting, communicating and partnering with other teams within 3M HIS as well as representing your team to executive management.

You have a strong understanding of large / high scale computing solutions. The ideal candidate will have experience working as a Solutions Architect or Principal / Senior software engineer and managing a team of Solutions Architects and software engineers. You enjoy keeping your existing technical skills honed and developing new ones, so you can make strong contributions during deep architectural discussions. You are an evangelist, a prolific writer and communicator and engage the 3M HIS development community head-on tackling some of the most challenging problems in healthcare today.

This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military environments to a 3M career.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

* Lead the definition of solution architectures required to solve complex compute and storage problems
* Perform the role of Chief Product Owner to one or more service teams under you leadership
* Document, communicate / evangelize architectural guidance (patterns and practices)
* Lead one or more service teams in the development, deployment and operations of critical services that form the foundation of our Health Services Platform
* Capture and share best-practice knowledge across 3M's technical community
* Participate in local and national technology and healthcare forums to promote the work being performed by 3M
* Guide and motivate the development of narratives (6-pagers) and other material that concisely communicates technology direction
* Actively participates in relevant corporate programs/initiatives, complies with professional and quality standards complies with corporate policies and procedures, and acts in a manner consistent with 3M's values and ethical standards.

Basic Qualifications:

* Possess a Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
* Minimum of ten (10) years of experience as software engineer
* Minimum of eight (8) years of experience as a systems or solution architect
* Minimum of four (4) years of managing technical personnel in an agile environment (e.g. Scrum)
* Minimum of five (5) years of experience with and current working knowledge of software development tools

Preferred Qualifications:

* Masters of Science, Computer Science, Mathematics or related field form an accredited university
* Professional experience architecting / operating cloud solutions built on AWS
* Experience leading development of services-oriented architectures
* Infrastructure architecture, database architecture and networking
* Experience working in healthcare to include healthcare data, integration, workflow systems and large-scale data lake environments
* Experience migrating or transforming legacy solutions to the cloud
* Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly
* Strong written communication skills
* Presentation skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with executives, technology leadership, and developers.
* High level of comfort communicating effectively across internal and external organizations

Travel Requirements: 10% domestic travel
