Our Journey

In 2002, Cornell University engineering students Steve Conine and Niraj Shah founded what would later become Wayfair on a shoestring budget in a spare bedroom of Steve's house. By carefully analyzing Internet search patterns, Steve and Niraj recognized a market opportunity to sell stereo racks and stands online. This single-site grew into a network of more than 250 standalone furnishing sites which consolidated into Wayfair: one of the world’s largest e-commerce destinations for home.

Corporate Social Responsibility

At Wayfair, we believe that strong communities and good business are inextricably linked. Students

At Wayfair, everyone makes an impact. All employees—including our interns and co-ops—are integral parts of their respective teams and are given autonomy to push themselves and find new ways to add value. Our interns are treated like full-time employees, often proposing, working on, or even spearheading projects of significant impact to the business.
