As a lead clinical psychologist in the NHS in 2015, Dr Nick Taylor faced the challenges of managing absenteeism, presenteeism, and turnover among highly pressured frontline staff.
Determined to find a solution, Nick discovered that, by combining clinical science with corporate wellness, organisations could help their teams to proactively nurture their own mental health, and in turn boost productivity. Pretty soon, what was intended as a strategy for supporting NHS workers became a compelling business case for helping companies across the world to solve some of their greatest challenges.
Fast-forward a year and Nick had teamed up with Ry Morgan, a serial startup founder with lived mental ill-health experience, Nick Tong, an entrepreneurial technologist, and Steve Peralta, a leading corporate wellbeing practitioner.
With an experiential understanding of the meaning of good mental health, Ry shaped the product. With a technical background, Nick Tong helped build the platform. With a deep knowledge of personal and organisational development, rooted in philosophy, Steve spearheaded the content strategy. Together the four shaped the ‘whole-person approach’ to supporting mental health at work.
In 2016, they launched Unmind. Today, the platform helps drive performance for organisations around the world, while empowering people to lead healthier, happier lives.
