    Our Company Story

The Tie Bar is a Chicago-based, rapidly growing, profitable retailer that is disrupting the men’s accessories space. We're already the #1 destination for affordable, high-quality ties and accessories on the web and are building off that by creating new experiences, online and offline, to deliver a deeply satisfying, personal experience for every customer.

By cutting out the middleman that drives up prices of most premium designs & fabrics, we're able to sell ties direct to consumer at $15 vs. $100 or more at most traditional retailers.

We get a lot of love from our customers, including a few famous ones (we've graced our share of GQ covers), which is both humbling and inspiring. We're a small, entrepreneurial team with big ambition and we have the wind of a strong brand and established traction at our back.

    Our Tech Story

Today, we have a traditional ecommerce experience on top of a .NET framework.

Tomorrow, we're evolving the product to sell just the right accessories to our guys based on what they already have in their wardrobe and their lifestyle. We aim do this through deep attribution of our product database and a blend of human & machine curation.

Delivering on this promise is going to require us to re-evaluate every aspect of our existing stack and UX and we need people who are excited by the opportunity to author that future. We can't offer a clean slate free of tech debt, but if you're motivated by the opportunity to craft a deeply personalized shopping experience and to make big decisions about the evolution of the underlying technology behind, this is the place for you.

    Our Team

We're a team of ~25 merchandisers, marketers, financiers, engineers & service team members. It's a tight-knit group who truly enjoy each other (unless someone puts on the Jock Jams Pandora station on the office Sonos). To a person we're passionate about our mission and act like owners who deeply care about the future of this business. We don't need a culture deck because each of us inherently understands what is right for our team and defines it by who we hire, fire, reward and promote.

While our company culture is strong, the tech team is nascent and evolving. The next few hires will help establish the norms and unique dynamic for our emerging product development org. If being part of a Genesis movement gets you fired up, join us!
