In 2014 we started Swoop with a vision to transform the local roadside assistance and towing industry. Nearly everyone has had a nightmare experience with a flat tire or breakdown, and we were no different. While other businesses like Uber were transforming local transportation, local towing was lagging behind. We asked the question if I can know exactly where my Uber driver is as they approach, why can't I know where my tow truck is when my car breaks down? We set out to solve this problem by building SaaS for local towing companies, and we recently joined forces with Agero, the market leader in Roadside Assistance to bring our service to 80M American drivers.
Swoop builds software for local towing companies. We power hundreds of towing companies and serve tens of thousands of customers on a daily basis. Our parent company, Agero, is the market leader, providing roadside protection for 80M Americans and performing 12M roadside services annually. As a connected vehicle service, we are in deep discussions with leading car manufacturers about their connected and autonomous vehicle experiences.
We are a small team of 23 people passionate about re-inventing the roadside industry, a real world problem for tens of millions of drivers annually. We're located in the heart of San Francisco, with two full time engineers, two product managers, four sales & operations, and a CEO with a finance background. We were previously backed by Founder Collective, Slow Ventures, SV Angel, and Entree Capital, and now we're backed by a large, profitable, and stable business that has committed to our growth and technology.
Our interview process starts with a quick intro phone call where we tell you more about our market opportunity, the industry, and the solutions we're building. We believe it critical that our candidates enjoy the market vertical we are pursuing.
We also seek to understand more about your career goals, interests, and motivations, to determine if Swoop is an environment that will foster career growth and development.
From there, we will conduct a technical screen with one of our Engineers so you can show us your skills. Lastly, you will be invited onsite to interview with an interview panel from our product/engineering group. Our onsite interview is designed to assess for a broad range of skills so that we can gain a holistic understanding of what you bring to the team and where you shine. For our Engineering candidates, our onsite interview includes 2-3 technical rounds, as well as "real-talk" conversations around what it is like to be an Engineer at Swoop and how you would work with the team on a daily basis.
