Strava has been serving athletes since 2009, when it was launched by two friends, Michael Horvath and Mark Gainey. After successfully starting up and exiting a tech company together during the first dotcom boom, Gainey and Horvath came back together to start a new business anchored in their passion for athletics. They had always wanted to recreate the camaraderie and competition they experienced as teammates on the Harvard Rowing Team. That’s why they built a “digital team” – a place where athletes can connect and inspire one another with their activities and accomplishments. They named it Strava, Swedish for “strive,” which epitomizes who we are and what we do: if you’re striving to improve, no matter your goals or ability, you’re one of us.
We’re a passionate and committed team, unified by our mission to build the most engaged community of athletes in the world. Every day, we’re searching for new ways to inspire athletes and make the sports they love even more fun. But it’s not only about achieving – we’re an inclusive team, dedicated to elevating each other and the members of our community. That balanced approach has helped us revolutionize our industry, and we’re just getting started. Millions of athletes are on Strava, millions more will come. When you’re ready for a challenge and a team that will support you along the way, join us.
Working at Strava means surrounding yourself with smart and passionate people, striving to build an inclusive, inspired and engaged community. We bring the same commitment to building an incredible workplace. At Strava, there’s a reason "camaraderie" is one of our core values - when we refer to our coworkers as teammates, we really mean it.
