    SMT was incorporated in 1990 as SportsMEDIA Technology Corporation after its founder and CEO, Gerard J. Hall, developed the first real-time scoring and wireless data delivery system for the PGA TOUR, replacing standard walkie-talkie communication. Since then, SMT’s innovations have spanned the world of sports and technology, providing broadcasters the data, graphics, support tools and displays to put at-home fans in the middle of the action.

    SMT, headquartered in Durham, N.C., has divisions in Jacksonville, Fla., Fremont, Calif., and London, England. Our Durham and Fremont locations specialize in real-time, data-rich graphics for broadcast, from clock-and-score systems to player- and object-tracking technology to virtual studios. SMT’s Jacksonville division focuses on wireless technology, statistical integration, ball speed systems, data tracking, electronic LED video boards and official scoring and results systems. Within its 300-plus staff, SMT has an internal R&D capability that stimulates the development of proprietary technology solutions for organizing bodies, broadcasters, teams and arenas, sponsors and event operators worldwide.
