    Have you ever wondered what it would be like working in a startup-like environment, while being part of a larger company? We’re in the process of establishing a cutting-edge data team within Southern Cross Austereo. Being small, agile and a growing team of four, we own our tech stack, decide what works best for us, move and get feedback fast, and - most importantly - each person has a direct and sizeable business impact. We’ve built a solid foundation of data integrations and data pipelines, so now we’re taking it to the next level with data products.     What We Do

    SCA is not just the only truly nationwide media provider but we create more hours of live content than any other broadcast media in Australia. We connect brands to 95% of Australians each week across our extensive media platforms, including regional free-to-air TV networks, national radio networks, online assets, mobile platforms and unique one-off events. Our wide range of media offerings allows SCA to deliver inventive, interactive and cross platform campaigns.

    How We Interview & Hire

    Our interview process is quite different to most tech companies. It begins with an introductory call to help you better understand the opportunity, give us a glimpse into your interests and motivations, and help you decide if SCA is the right place for you to be your happiest and most successful self. From there, we will conduct a technical screen with our Senior Data Engineer and the team lead so you can show us your skills. We do not do whiteboard or algorithm exercises, instead focusing on learning what you have done in the past, and how you approach real-world problems in general.

    Throughout the process you’ll have as much chance to have conversations around what it is like to be a Data Engineer at SCA and how you would work with the team on a daily basis. We pride ourselves on being transparent throughout the entire interview process with conversations around compensation, day-to-day tasks, and the impact you will make here at SCA.
