    The Silvercar Story

Have you ever had a bad experience with a company and thought, “There has GOT to be a better way”? Yeah, us too. This is what drove our founders to find a way to engineer the hassles out of renting a car. You know what hassles we’re talking about – long lines, paperwork, crappy car, upsell city. Our solution? Mix a mighty fine car and some techy engineer types and – voila – Silvercar is born. What happened over the next few months was nothing short of brilliance - endless days of tinkering with cars and coding until our fingers were raw. Well ok, no one was actually harmed in the making of Silvercar, but you get the picture.

Fast forward a couple of years and we’ve now opened 8 airport markets with several more on the way! Who’s looking in their rearview mirror? Not Silvercar. We set out on a journey to make the customer’s experience simple, unique and hassle free. Along the way, we ended up disrupting a tired old industry. And we’re just getting started.

    Values & Culture at Silvercar

Yes, we have values and yes, we actually live by them (gasp!). We aren’t smug about what we have accomplished in such a short time. To the contrary, we know we still have a lot of work to do and we need top talent to help us drive this company forward. Pardon the car pun – but get used to it, it happens all the time! We do like to celebrate our wins and work hard so we can celebrate again and again. It takes fearlessness and mindfulness to crank out the level of work we expect, but we know you are up for the challenge.

How We Interview and Hire Engineers

We know interviewing can be a long and laborious process, which is why we try to conduct interviews like we manage our workflow: lean and efficient. After you hear from us on Hired, you'll be set up with a short pre-interview call with our HR team. This is for you to have a chance to ask questions and cover the basics: Culture, parking, vacation, whatever you want to know. And we'll get to know you a bit, too.

If that goes well, sometimes we'll ask you to do an at home assignment..something that gives you an opportunity to show us what you're capable of. Then finally we'll schedule your interview at our offices, where you should expect to spend around three hours meeting everyone on our team in a series of small, focused interviews. You'll also have a chance to talk through your at home project and tell us about it.

By the end of the process, we expect to have learned a lot about each other, and we can typically make a formal offer quickly thereafter. As part of the offer process, we will ask you to setup reference calls for us with your former managers & bosses.
