Shippo’s mission is to make shipping cheap and easy for e-commerce merchants. We are a fast growing startup of hard-working and passionate people. Simon and Laura founded Shippo in 2013. They were in e-commerce before, building an e-commerce store that sources internationally. Shipping eats the margins in e-commerce, especially if you don’t have the economies of scale of Amazon (yet). When they tried to optimize their shipping costs they ultimately decided to drop the e-commerce store front and focus entirely on building a shipping solution for e-commerce stores.
Our API is used by customers that ship millions of packages per month. High uptime & low latency are very important. One of our core values is to provide a simple, modern and scalable API. The APIs we integrate with are in many cases old, inaccurate and unreliable. Providing a state-of-the-art technology solution for these APIs and partners is our challenge. On top of that, we have a large set of data about the shipping profile of our customers that we leverage to foster sustainable relations with our shipping provider partners and identify patterns in the industry.
