    Engineering & CX

    River Island Engineering has gone through a fundamental cultural and technological transformation over the past two years. We recognise that technology is advancing at an unprecedented rate and our organisation is continuously inspecting and adapting both our technology and culture to ensure we meet customers expectations. No longer do we operate against a background of slow burn, complex and monolithic legacy systems, we are rapidly evolving our platforms and capabilities with a strong focus on innovation and product. Key to this is the evolution of our culture which is powered by agile principles and practises.

    River Island IT Engineering is growing to meet this demand and as such we are looking for people who are passionate, open-minded and collaborative. We need people who will challenge the status quo, who believe in continuous improvement and take pride in what they do.

    Service Operations

    River Island customers across the globe have high expectations of the online and in-store experience we provide, which is why our Service Operators are vital when it comes to managing the cutting-edge technology we use to deliver and support our services.

    We are aggressively transforming the Service Operations team to an agile, aware and automation focused support function. We strive in all areas to move away from the traditional operational “command and control” and embrace a flexible and sensible approach to all operational requirements. With the adoption of marking leading ITSM tooling and a culture driven to place the customer at the heart of what we do, we aim to set a new standard service excellence while matching the pace for adoption of all new technology and capability form our Delivery, Engineering and Architecture teams.

    Architecture

    We’re looking to grow an IT architecture team the antithesis of typical stereotypes all too often seen in large enterprises. Onerous governance processes and approval boards will not be found here. Instead, we are a team that prioritises automation over documentation, values transparency and brevity over bureaucracy and takes an active responsibility in delivering working solutions to production.

    River Island aims to put ultra-modern IT architecture at the heart of what we do. We are not trying to simply match our competitors in this space and as such, the architecture team is constantly on the lookout for new tools and techniques for tackling new and existing business challenges.

    Delivery & Transformation

    In our increasingly competitive industry, it is vital to secure the right talent who can help the business realise its goals and deliver value through the appropriate use of innovation and tech. Acting more like an internal consultancy, our team is made up of Portfolio Leads, Project Delivery Managers, BA's and Scrum Masters, all of whom work together to ensure we are delivering the right things, at the right time and to the right people. We work with and often on behalf of the business and we don’t just support IT project delivery. We work in close collaboration with product owners during delivery and backlog prioritisation but we also support business owners and directors with their role in defining strategy and objectives. We work across all business platforms, products and capabilities: from online to in-store, from product design, buying and merchandising to supply chain and enterprise services.

    Big company experience with a small company mentality works well at RI as we’ve got complex, leading edge initiatives to deliver, but being private, slightly smaller organisation, there is less structure and more fluidity. A culture of rolling up your sleeves and getting things done is important as is a passion for what you do. Collaboration and pragmatism also go a long, long way!
