    What we are doing...

The pet industry is at a crossroads. Competition from sites like Amazon, Chewy, and Jet have put a serious strain on the existence of the independent pet retail store. Each year the online market eats away at their market share; a share that brick and mortar pet has owned up until the early 2010's. In this new era, the independent pet retailer finds themselves struggling to make real headway in digital markets. They need solutions to help them stay on top of the increasingly tech-savvy or capital backed competition.

Our mission is to help the independents.

Through our marketing experience and technological innovations, we will be rolling out marketing tooling, new retail applications, and web services that help them become true omni channel players.

    Challenges you will face...

    • Rapid application prototyping
    • Inventory consolidation from many sources
    • Revenue recognition between multiple parties
    • Order fulfillment at scale
    • Payment processing and PCI compliance
    • Scaling data pipelines and data warehouses

    Who we are looking for...

A successful engineer at PetFlow will be someone who:

    • Keeps up to date with the latest trends.
    • Passionate about shipping quality software.
    • Loves working in a small team, fast paced environment.
    • Comfortable working in multiple programming languages.
    • Humble and open to new ideas.

    How we hire...

    Our process has three steps:

    1. A phone screen. We use this to align on career goals, if we're a fit, and salary.
    2. A code test. A time-boxed exercise with two problems. We use this to gauge your coding abilities. You will be asked to solve a simple algorithmic problem (string reversal, fizz-buzz, etc) and fix some broken code that we hand off.
    3. An on-site interview. Spend time with our engineering and product team, going over a few interesting challenges, extracting feature sets, and sketching out technical solutions. No coding on-site; but we'll be using sketching out high-level solutions on a whiteboard.
