Healthcare is broken and the software running it isn't much better. We've spent years watching technology underperform for the people that deliver, finance and receive healthcare. But we've also seen it work. What's the secret? Human-centered design. Yes, it sounds cliché but healthcare has somehow overlooked the obvious.
So what did we do at those awesome jobs we left? We applied human-centered design, extensive healthcare domain knowledge, and years of experience employing the best software development practices to solve big healthcare problems. And that's what we do today at Oxeon Design & Development. But at od&d, we get to be multipliers. First, we help clients launch their products on a firmly user-centric foundation. But we also teach them how to keep people at the center of their future product development.
You haven't given up on healthcare. You've seen human-centered design transform other industries and you're ready to apply that experience to healthcare.
Given our broad backgrounds in healthcare, our clients are very diverse. For example, we are helping a very early startup that is improving lower back pain care by steering patients away from high-cost, poor outcome care to lower-cost, better outcome alternatives. This engagement has focused on product strategy to engage the patients. At the other end of the spectrum, we are working with a very large integrated delivery network (think lots of hospitals and lots of outpatient clinics under one brand) that wants to commercialize some of its home-grown technology for improving outcomes and saving money during surgeries.
We start with 1 or 2 remote conversations (video chat preferred). Then we invite you for 1 on-site visit which usually includes a) 1-3 general interviewers, b) a problem-solving exercise, and c) a mini-presentation from you.
