The OVO Story

OVO started as an idea around the kitchen table. A couple of friends listing what they wanted from their energy supplier, but weren’t getting. Things like fair pricing. Great service. Clear and simple information. Technology to make managing your energy easier. And above all, honesty and openness.

Ten years and 5,000,000 happy customers later, we’re proud of what we’ve achieved. We're now a collection of companies with a single aim. To be a zero carbon business by 2030 and to help our customers do the same. But there’s plenty more to be done.

Since day one, we've used technology to solve some of the biggest problems in energy, revolutionising a broken industry for the benefit of customers.

And we're not stopping there. Now, we're reimagining the entire energy system. To do it we're introducing smart energy products into people's homes and increasing renewable energy on the grid for a carbon-free future for all.

In Tech, we have a number of thriving communities that are here to encourage learning and sharing across our organisation. As we grow and tackle more and more diverse problems, it's important we have the opportunity to come together and talk about our interests and learn from each other. Our communities span from technology specific User Groups such as Kafka, social communities such as Women* in the Tech Sphere (W*iTS) and area based communities such as Product.
