OUR STORY

Almost a decade ago, we started as a London black cab rental company. When we saw Uber coming in, we had two choices: either be eaten up by the private hire industry; or join the game and try to play big. We chose the latter. Otto Car started with just thirty cars. We're proud to say we are now the biggest fleet of PCO cars in Europe, with over 1800 cars on the road in London. We've also helped over 4000+ drivers to get on the road, and the numbers are growing each quarter.

At Otto Car, the mission is to give people the freedom to make a difference in their lives and to the lives of those closest to them. We deal with a number of demographics, consisting largely of new entrants into the UK, who need assistance, and the right tools to get on the job ladder and succeed. Similarly, we do everything we can to remove any obstacles that could prevent these drivers succeeding. Owning a car is often taken for granted, but for many people, the simple act of providing an affordable and sustainable means of car ownership, represents the path to financial and social freedom.

TECH AT OTTO CAR

We got to where we are without utilising tech as much as we should, and that's why we're here on HIRED looking for creative, capable and passionate technologists to join us, and to grow our newly formed engineering team. You will be tasked with not only enhancing the user experience of our current customers, but with improving the overall processes of the company.

The wider team here is extremely open to new ideas, and you will have the chance to produce work that you will visibly see the results of on a day to day basis, and which will directly impact the experience of thousands of existing users, as well as the future of the company.

Our HQ is based in Hammersmith, and you’ll be working alongside people from most teams in the company including our claims, credit control and servicing teams.

We schedule regular learning sessions for the whole team to understand more about all aspects of the company and the industry. We also provide learning and personal development tools to all our engineering staff.

This is a fantastic opportunity for somebody that wants to join a growing team of technologists, and who would like to have a significant say in how the company currently operates, and should be operating in the future. This means we are not only looking for experienced innovators, but individuals who can articulate their ideas clearly, and see theoretical concepts turn into actionable projects.

HOW WE HIRE

1. 📞 Quick Call: 10-15 mins, to tell you more about us and give you the chance to ask questions.
2. 👋 In Person Interview: 1.5-2 hours, split into two parts: 45-60 minutes, to learn more about you, your work ethic and your approach to solving problems; and 30-60 minutes, where you'll be doing some pair programming with a member of our engineering team.
