About Onalytica

We’ve got an exciting new opportunity to join us at Onalytica and we’d love someone who’s super-organised, has bags of enthusiasm and a “can do” attitude as well as a passion for data, research and social media to join our engineering team. Ideally you will have worked on the .net stack for at least 3 years and have experience building web applications.
The current vacancy will focus primarily on web application development (asp.net mvc/backbone.js_ whilst we complete a new area of our product. Subsequently the role will involve all aspects of front and back end development.

Our Business

Onalytica discovers digital influencers across social media platforms. We pull millions of posts to analyse relationship networks/trends, and provide intelligent search across thousands of influencer profiles.
We are located 5 mins from London Bridge station and office perks include wifi, an outside space, cycle parking, darts, table tennis/football, a comfortable lounge area, and a lively social scene.

Our Software

Our processes run on AWS according to a microservices architecture, and our web applications are delivered using asp.net MVC5 and backbone.js.
Data is persisted across a variety of stores including SQL Server and DynamoDb.

Essential Skills and Requirements

We’d like to work with a methodical and careful engineer showing a lot of initiative. We are a small and fast moving company so you’ll often be a few commits away from a release. You should be well versed in unit testing – happy to take responsibility for areas of work – and keen to collaborate with the team.

  • Firm grounding in C#, you naturally write testable code (loosely coupled, injected dependencies, single responsibilities).
  • Strong JavaScript abilities, have worked with SPA’s, good experience of at least one of Backbone/Angular/React.
  • Decent CSS/HTML skills – we have a designer – but we’d like if your unaided Front End development is intuitive and well presented.
  • Good understanding of ASP.Net MVC and WebAPI
  • Good SQL ability – you can manipulate data proficiently; aggregating, sorting, filtering, joining.
  • Flexibility – not everything we build will be using your favourite tech(!), we expect you to be enthusiastic about building the best possible solution within the constraints we have.

Nice to have
* Advanced use of C# – TPL, EF, Windows Services, Message Queues
* Proficient in Git (ideally), or svn
* Continuous integration using Teamcity or similar
* Understand the advantages and processes of working as an agile team.
* Time spent coding on AWS esp. SQS & Dynamo, or the Azure equivalents.
