Amir Shriki, a veteran of the real-estate industry, and Yossi Shemesh, former co-founder of Mobli, met at a Friday night dinner in 2014 and discovered that they shared a vision for how to disrupt the apartment rental industry. Looking at real-estate processes, they found the area was ripe for disruption, and in the same way that many individuals no longer call taxi companies for their transport or call restaurants to place food delivery orders, came to believe that apartment rental would soon work the same way: tap a button, filter listings, schedule showings with an in-app calendar, and decide to lease, all by cutting out the time and energy which a middleman (e.g. a broker or lead-generation platform) often requires of the user.
