At Mixmax, our mission is to do the impossible with email: to make it as rich, interactive, and developer-friendly as the web.
We started Mixmax to take on the challenge of upgrading email to the 21st century. In the last decade, we saw the web mature at an incredible pace. Video-conferencing, “street view” on maps, and collaborative document editing are all examples of amazing advances that are standard on the web. And yet, email remains static, plain, and unproductive. Despite its ubiquity and longevity, email is stuck in 1999.
Mixmax makes email as powerful as web pages by enabling actions like completing purchases, confirming expense reports, scheduling events, and answering surveys—all within an email, no plugins required. Any developer can bring interactive apps into email using Mixmax as a platform, without worrying about client idiosyncrasies.
After building communications products at companies like Apple, Google, and Skype we saw a huge opportunity to build a world where email maximizes both your productivity and expressiveness. We met at Inkling, where we built Inkling Habitat together, the WYSIWYG ebook editor now used by the world’s biggest publishers. We have unique experience of enabling interactivity cross-platform.

We’re on the forefront of what’s possible (and impossible) on the web and on mobile today. Our engineering challenges range from reverse-engineering minified Gmail code to designing a custom SMTP email architecture to building a platform for in-email apps. It’s incredibly challenging and gratifying work.
When you join Mixmax, you'll work with a mission-driven and dedicated team that has a deep understanding of engineering, design, and product. The person who takes on this role will help shape the company in a way that people who join later or in other roles can’t.
All candidates start with a phone-screen interview to determine skill-level and fit. The next step is a half-day interview which starts with a presentation, followed by one-on-one interviews. You'll meet our entire team, and we'll provide tasty snacks in-between interviews. Before we make an offer, we call your references to get their thorough opinion on what it's like to work with you.
