Trolling on Facebook. That was the inspiration for what is now MAVRCK.
It all started Thanksgiving 2012. Lyle was visiting his family for the holidays, and while everyone was sitting down to enjoy their favorite meal of the year, a battle broke out at the kids table. Two cousin's were arguing over who was the better Facebook Troll at their school. Using fake Facebook accounts, they were leaving clever remarks on their classmates' Facebook posts, and tracking the reaction they were getting in a spreadsheet, based on the number of likes and comments generated. Apparently, one of them was artificially inflating their numbers. Being a data nerd, Lyle decided to create a simple web page that each cousin logged into with their fake Facebook account. The page then displayed the total number of likes and comments generated, settling the argument. That web page was referred to as LikeScore, and was the very first iteration of MAVRCK.
After the holidays, Lyle returned to Boston and quickly enlisted the help of Sean and Shoeb to build out a better version of their product. With the goal of identify and activating influencers on Facebook, the team quickly tested with their first customer: The Northeastern Alumni Association, who wanted to leverage influential students and alumni to promote Northeastern events. Chris joined shortly after to help work with larger brands.
Today, we enable some of world's most iconic brands to be more human by using their influential customers to spread their message instead of ads. These brands include P&G, Unilever, S.C. Johnson, Hershey's, New Balance and Sears.
