There are companies that exist because they want to scratch the San Francisco startup lottery ticket, hiding behind a thin veil of "we are here to change the world." Sure you are. Spoiler alert: most of these feature-as-a-product companies are not going to change the world, not even a little bit. We hope you enjoy your catered lunches, because your options are worthless there. If you end up at one, do your best, learn to be amazing at your job, build an exceptional body of work.
We build the most advanced search platform in existence. You don't think search is important or exciting? Okay, then imagine a world where search didn't exist. Try to find a movie on Netflix, or your next piece of gear on REI. Try finding a document or a photo you didn't categorize correctly. In an enterprise context, try to gather information on a customer from 15 different data sources, each with different APIs and formats. Try to analyze your server logs to find a point of failure. Try to build an app that accounts for a user's click stream and geolocation as contexts and provide relevant interfaces. You can't do any of these things without search. We are building the future of human-computer interaction. We are passionate about this vision, and we need you to be a part of it.
