Kible

If LEGO were invented today, it would be Kible.

Kible is a learning design technology startup that is looking for an experienced mobile game developer to assist with developing our app.

You'll be working on an app that has for the most part been designed with static and animated reference wireframes, although interface design will have to be reworked for the actual app, which I, Jason, will be able to assist with and direct as the managing experience designer. An early version of the app has been prototyped in Unity, but chances are you’ll want to start from scratch, which is fine by me.

Working on the Kible app will require an understanding of how to develop the following:

  • A mobile 3D modular modeling engine such that up to thousands of instances of simple geometry can be in play without crashing.

  • Enable the user interaction of said instances derived from a set inventory of geometry, of which more geometry can be added to by the developers later.

  • The cataloguing of said instances of geometry, e.g. how many of each instance the user is playing with in their current scheme.

  • Implement several multitouch commands and user camera navigation of 3D space (pan, orbit, zoom, gimbal, bank, etc).

  • Transitioning from 2D menu interfaces to 3D environments.

  • Basic superimposed geometry over camera feed augmented reality.

  • Knowledge of how to best build a Unity project for iOS and Android and how to responsively develop interface menus to scale appropriately for various device resolutions.

While not crucial upfront, depending on the applicant's skill level and experience, the project will also eventually require the following to be developed:

  • Enabling the creation of user profiles and managing user inventories.

  • Setting up a vendor system for both in-game digital acquisitions and mail ordered tangible direct to consumer invoice purchases.

  • Integration with other social channels such that users can directly send snapshots or videos taken from within the app and post elsewhere.

Please provide the following upfront, as neglecting to do so will summarily disqualify your application:

  • Example of one top-selling mobile game that you have shipped or worked on. If you are a recent grad, a professional-quality thesis project must be provided.

  • Your location — while this is a remote position (goes without saying), candidates in the PDT zone (west coast) will be given priority.

  • Code examples on GitHub.

The following are required to be considered for a follow-up call:

  • A college degree (BS/BA).

  • Must be able to build to iOS. Ability to build to Android as well is an ideal qualification, but not necessary.

  • Have a recent iPhone and iPad device.

  • Registered Apple Developer and know how to effectively use TestFlight.

  • Willingness to sign a NDA in order to further review the project design and scope of work required.

  • After signing the NDA, willingness to spend no more than two hours drafting a project roadmap with milestones quoted at your hourly rate.

That all said, Kible is a startup founded in 2016, and is excited to begin a working relationship with a mobile developer as we move towards the larger visions of our venture. My name is Jason, I am the sole founder and am looking forward to reading from you.
