Who we are

We are a small team on a mission to support the self-employed. Our founding team has hands-on experience with taxes and accounting, financial services and fintech, self-employment, and scaling startups. We’re building a team that mirrors those we serve — innovative, dedicated, and diverse individuals, ready to leave their mark on the world.

What we’re building

One third of the American workforce earns income independent from a traditional employer, and by 2027 it is projected that more than half the working population will be working independently. For many, this is the opportunity to experience the difference between a job and a job you love. But there’s extra work when you work for yourself! Self-employed people have to figure out how much they owe in taxes, set aside the right amount, and make quarterly payments to avoid fines - all of which is made easier when you have a separate bank account just for your business.

We’re building Indie so everyone has the support, structure, and confidence to work for themselves. Our team is dedicated to taking care of business banking, expense tracking, and tax saving so self-employed people have more time to do what they do best.

Indie customers use us for business banking and expense tracking, and are rewarded with accurate books and taxes. As the central ledger, behind the scenes we use raw payment data to automatically assess bookkeeping categories and calculate deductions using our proprietary tax calculator. With Indie, self-employed businesses have access to a true business bank account, and can eliminate the cost and hassle of bookkeeping, accounting software, and tax payments.
