We're on an important mission to fix the global problem of physical inactivity. If you're excited about health, fitness or sports, then this will read as a pretty exciting opportunity for you.
We're creating a new way to share data for the sector that will bring a new wave of open innovation. We believe technology can transform this sector for the better, and an ability to access the right data will be at the core of this transformation.
Read about our story so far here - we've certainly come a long way since our beginnings, and now we're facing some fun and interesting challenges. Challenges that we must overcome swiftly and efficiently. Challenges that will need serious write-all-over-the-whiteboards-oh-snap-we-need-more-whiteboards levels of thinking. Challenges that we can't face alone.
We need your help.
As founders, we came from outside the sector. We saw an important problem space, health, that we were passionate about, and we had a simple belief that we could help make important change happen in a way no-one was doing. Over the last two years, we've been out in the sector, building an incredible network of supports, partners and customers. This has served us well, but now the company is about to move into a new gear: supporting a customer base growing both in size and diversity. With that comes a need to be more inwardly facing - focussing on our product, how we interact with our users, and how we can make our software better and better every week.
We have customers eager to try things out, and early adopters willing to let us road-test new ideas. We need the right person to help us to make it happen and own the next phase of product development.
We're a group of entrepreneurs with a range of interests, hobbies, beliefs, cultures and background. For example, a chunk of our team was born or raised in Wales; our political views vary enough to have some enlightening lunch time conversations; our out-of-work interests range from frisbee, to communism; to immersive theatre. We strive to bring onboard people that share our ambitions, bring a unique viewpoint to the company, and have a knack of getting the important stuff done. If you meet those criteria, it doesn't matter who you are - we're interested in working with you.
YOU CRAVE A SENSE OF PURPOSE
You're seeking a role where you are passionate about the outcome. It's not just about the software we build, it's about how you are contributing to a team that's trying to fundamentally change how a sector approaches technology, in order to tackle a serious problem facing society. Purpose is what gets you pumped up on those days when everything is breaking.
YOU KNOW HOW GOOD TEAMS WORK
You understand teams take time to get right, and that there are important elements of coaching, mentoring, and guidance needed to get there. You relish the differences of opinions that exist between individual members of a team because that leads to well thought through decisions.
YOU KNOW THE REQUIREMENTS OF BEING IN A STARTUP
You are not dogmatic in your approach. You understand that there is a constant trade off between the making the product bullet proof, and the realities of startup life - you know the art of "just enough". You understand that early stage startups will always have a level of tech debt and this doesn't fill you with fear, nor does it make you feel like you're cutting corners. You strive to bring maximum stability to the product team whilst maintaining flexibility to take each week as it comes. You strive to be part of the decision making so you can generate this stability, and you're not afraid to make the hard choices.
YOU HAVE A GENUINE INTEREST IN OPEN SOURCE, OPEN DATA AND OPEN STANDARDS
We've done something that not many startups have done. We've helped create and define an open data standard for our sector. We are helping the first technologies to implement that standard. We have world-leading mentors advising on this standard. Being "open" (whether that be data, source or standards) is a huge part of what we are and how we make our decisions, and you should feel excited to be part of that movement.
