Horizons is not just a School of Technology. We are a group of entrepreneurs and former engineers in technology who are passionate about bridging the gap between traditional education and the tech world.

Our Students

We find high-potential ambitious undergraduates from top schools and we fast-track their careers by empowering them with technical skills and a professional network. Our 12-16 week immersive program teaches full-stack web application development, entrepreneurship and software engineering.

Our students have gone on to win national hackathons, land jobs at tech giants, and raise money for their startups.

Teaching at Horizons

We are looking for an exceptional Software Engineering Instructor candidate who loves:

• Mentoring students as they take your ideas & go to places you could not have imagined
• Breaking down complicated jargon ridden technical documentation into refreshingly straightforward stories about technology
• Helping fellow instructors improve by providing actionable feedback
• Being a sounding board for students as they identify and pursue their personal and professional goals
• Designing exercises that are approachable to students at all levels while still being engaging for the most advanced students
• Seeking out quantitative and qualitative feedback on all aspects of the educational experience from your fellow instructors & students
• Coaching students on their own path of growth and learning even if it’s different than yours

Curriculum

You’ll help us decide what we teach tomorrow, today we teach web-app development using:

• JavaScript (up to and including ES2015)
• HTML, CSS
• Node.js and NPM
• React, React Native
• MongoDB
• Git and GitHub
• Express with Handlebars templates

We also offer advanced instruction in scalability and concurrency using Go.

To introduce our students to entrepreneurship we offer speaker series throughout the program. Our past speakers include:
