Holiday Extras is a fast moving technology business where our purpose is to make travel better. We make it easy for customers to make the most of their trip. With over 4 million bookings a year we are one of the UK’s most innovative travel companies and continue to grow fast and expand our offering.

We’re the UK market leader in travel ancillaries; once you have booked a flight and accommodation, we take care of the rest. That includes airport hotels, insurance, airport parking, lounges, foreign currency, car hire, resort transfers and attractions. Almost all of our business is conducted online, either direct through our own website and apps or through our network of partners that include the major travel retailers, airlines and tour operators.

Our product engineering team is based near the beach in Hythe, Kent, less than an hour from London and we also have engineers in Sofia (Bulgaria). In total we have more than 130 people working on our product development including engineers, product managers, testers, and designers. The team form into pods, each pod having a mission and part of the customer journey that they focus on, with clear KPIs that they work on improving.

Holiday Extras Shortbreaks (part of the Holiday Extras Group) work with the UK’s biggest theme parks, attractions and West-End shows helping over half a million customers a year to make their free time count. An innovative and entrepreneurial travel-tech business we are proud to run like a startup - even after 10 years of success!

We build the tools our customers need to Travel Better and at the same time get to play with the latest tech. We have an active GitHub community with over 58 users and 300 projects spanning a range of technologies such as Node, Express, React, Backbone and other JavaScript SPAs – and we’re always up for trying something new! In fact we insist on it.

How we Interview & Hire

We're looking for Engineers to join the growing team in the office. We have flexible working, which means you can work form home at times too. Our team 'think remote' though, and with an office in Bulgaria, we're looking for remote candidates across the UK too. Unfortunately, we are unable to sponsor work visa's at this time.

Our interview process begins with a technical assessment so we can learn more about your skills. We then do an intro call with our Tech Recruiter where you can learn more about, what we think is, an amazing place to work, learn more about the role and we can learn more about you. If we move forward, we will bring you down to our big open office in leafy Kent, give you a show around and delve a bit more into your experience and ways of working and go through more of a technical interview too. The final stage in our process is another visit to our offices, but an opportunity to meet more of our ever expanding team over some sandwiches and pair programming for a couple of hours with one of our senior engineers. Then comes the offer :)
