We're Flock, an energetic, London-based startup building the future of real-time risk analytics.

We've built the world's leading real-time risk analysis platform for the drone industry, pulling vast amounts of geospatial data from a variety of sources to identify, quantify and price drone flight risks, instantly. We've partnered with the Allianz, the world's largest aviation insurer, to launch Europe's first ever 'pay-as-you-fly' drone insurance app. Our technology is now transforming both the drone industry and the insurance industry - and we’re just getting started!

We are backed by some of the world's leading investors, including Plug and Play (Silicon Valley) and Anthemis (London), and we have been featured in the Financial Times, The Guardian and The Economist. We've won a litany of awards and government grants for our research and technology. We're now building out our tech team as we expand our operations globally, and into new verticals entirely.

WHAT IS LIFE IS LIKE AS AN ENGINEER AT FLOCK

1. We practice continuous delivery: your code ships to production minutes after hitting master
2. We use the best tool for the job: we do not shy away from introducing new technologies (like Swift/Kotlin/ReasonML) when it makes sense
3. We believe that type systems are one of the best ways to guarantee quality: we apply FlowJS rigorously, requiring closed immutability on all objects at lint time
4. Engineers have weekly learning mornings: study whatever you want
5. We run quarterly hackdays: unlimited pizza, build whatever you want. Judged by the whole Flock team
6. Open Source contributions actively encouraged and rewarded: we revel in making our expertise and achievements public

OUR INTERVIEW PROCESS

1. Our first stage is a short 20-minute phone conversation with Abe (our Tech Lead) to get to know each other better
2. Provide us with some of your code, or alternatively we will provide you with a short take-home exercise (40 mins to one hour)
3. We will invite you to Flock HQ to meet with Abe and the rest of the team. We will work through some architecture exercises and a whiteboard coding exercise. We may do a short pair programming exercise, and then give you the opportunity to ask us any questions you may have and to talk about the role in detail.
