Companion

Whether you were walking, bussing, or even taking an Uber, everyone has felt that uneasy feeling while traveling alone. Companion provides a social platform for users to take control of their personal safety, ultimately giving them and their loved ones peace of mind when it's needed most.

When starting a journey, users enter their destination, and invite their family and friends, or 'Companions', to monitor their travel—all in just a few taps. If a user goes off-route, Companion steps in to ask if they're okay. Using the phone's various sensors, the app also detects when a user has fallen or started running. When a user reaches their destination, their selected Companions are notified that they've arrived safely. During a user’s trip, they can reach out to 911, and also have the option to report local safety information. Harnessing this street-level safety data, we’ll ultimately crowdsource this information in order to improve safety & connectivity within communities around the world.
