Cognition IP is a law firm dedicated to patent law and an affiliate technology company. We're different from other patent law firms in our use of technology to increase quality and efficiency. We offer transparent, flat-fee pricing. The idea for the startup was born out our founders seeing a real need to fundamentally change the way law firms operate. In the agile world of startups and globalization, traditional law firms struggle with the integration of technology. The billable hour model and the law firm partnership model disincentivize efficient workflows and adoption of technology.
We founded our company in January 2018 when we were accepted into YCombinator's W18 class and have already brought our company to profitability. Through process improvements and software tools, we've been able to dramatically increase our attorneys' efficiency by a factor of 2. After a successful round of fundraising, we're ready to grow our engineering team!
Our technology company is continuing to work on tools to help further increase the efficiency of the patent prosecution pipeline from client intake to management to attorney review. Our tools also leverage advances in artificial intelligence to enable our attorneys and staff to work faster and smarter.
