Our mission is to build the data backbone for modern businesses.

We power the sales and marketing data for many of the tech companies in the valley. We operate behind the scenes at companies like Asana, Zendesk, Gusto, Stripe, Intercom, and Segment by giving their teams the data they need to understand their customers and do cool things like customize their website (based on visitor IP/company) and shorten signup forms.

Our Technology

We have a mixture of data APIs and consumer apps. Several of our APIs are serving over 10 million requests a day, and we have 200k daily users of our consumer apps.

We love micro-services and have ~60 internal services powering 6 public facing APIs. Our services are a mixture of Go/Ruby + Sinatra. We use Postgres + DynamoDB + Aurora for persistence. Everything is hosted on AWS EC2 + Kubernetes - about 100 nodes.

Our systems look across the web, sorting through millions of data-points in real-time to pull back actionable intelligence from a variety of sources: social presence, company websites, legal filing, and many more. In addition, our network of over 150,000 community members and API partners help provide and validate our data.

We have just over 1k customers, are profitable, and like to keep things efficient and sustainable. Asana, Zendesk, Gusto, Stripe, Intercom, and Segment are a few of the companies who use Clearbit to get the freshest possible data within the tools they already use

Our Team

We're a small team of 30 - half growth, half engineers. Backgrounds from Twitter, Stripe, WeWork, Google & Thoughtbot.

Our Culture

We're based in SOMA, San Francisco in a converted coffee warehouse, but half the team is remote. We like to do fun offsites a couple of times a year - previous ones were Costa Rica, Colombia, and most recently Tulum.
